I Love being a Pregonaut!! :)

Today is 21 weeks, 6 days.:)

I just want to say how much I LOVE being pregnant. I love feeling our little man move around. I love that my belly is growing. More than any other time in my life, I love the way I look..side profile, front profile...I just love the changes my body is doing to make sure our little Limey love has room to grow.

As I write this, I can feel him move right now, a little buzz, like a hummingbird, inside my lower right abdomen. The first time I ever felt him move was on Friday, Nov 19 (18 wk, 3 dy) in the afternoon. I was sitting on the couch in front of the computer, with my knees folded up, and I felt a fluttering hummingbird in my abdomen. I stopped, because everything stopped. I thought 'oh my goodness, Limey, is that you??' I told Mister about it later on, saying that I think there was a good chance that I had felt Limey for the first time, but I had to feel him again a few times to be sure. By Thurs, Nov 25 (19 wk. 2 dy) I was feeling Limey quite a bit. I really noticed when we were in the car driving to William Ashley in the morning before our appt with Dr. Badmos. Now our next big thing is Dad being able to feel his little boy!! We can't wait!!

I'm having some heart beating trouble since 18 weeks. My heart starts pounding, my legs go numb, but I realize that I have to take it slower and breathe through my nose as much as possible (Kat's suggestion!) It's still hard tho, on a day like today that's -20 with windchill. But Quo Loved the coolness of today..he was in such a good mood when we were out this afternoon. He is such our good little boy :)

We're having a little baby BOY!! Hoooray!!! Now it's 3 girls vs 3 boys lol!

Our Dearest Limes,

We are SO HAPPY to hear you are our little baby boy!! Mom's already started looking for the cutest little boy outfits for you! Dad is trying to hold me back a bit so I don't spend 'millions of dollars!'

And Dad keeps saying he won the 'bet', but as I'll explain, the bet was totally biased.

More to come...

Love,
Mom

Drumroll please...Limey is a.....BOY!!!!!!

We *love* you Limey!! 16 weeks 6 days!

We just adore you, little Limey (or Zee Limes, as I sometimes call you).
Last weekend, I finally told Rae, Mary and Shannon - 'So, guess what..I'm having a baby!' and I showed off my lovely bump. The girls are so happy for me, but I know Rae is especially. I'm going to hang the picture she drew of the family in Limey's room. Limey's going to have such cool Aunties!! Rae, Kat, Amanda, Claudia, Dani, Mary, Richa, Kate, Charissa, Melinda, Shannon.

I've been feeling kinda blah, like a zombie, just cause my headaches can be bad. But I'm really glad, that for the last one, tylenol worked.

Instead of having cravings for anything in particular, yet, I've found that I've 90% of my sweet tooth. When I went out with the girls last weekend, everyone ordered cheesecake but me. Me! No cheesecake! How strange lol. Instead I have a chai latte that was really really good. I also really like cucumbers, oranges/clementines, and these days, toast with almond butter and honey...mmmm...honey.

I'm researching co-sleepers vs. cribs vs playards these days. And we were given a cradle by Aunt Diane! It's passed down from Francine's last little girl. I was looking for something that rocked! I was a bit sad at first, just for a minute..I was hoping to have picked out Limey's crib with my mister..it's such a big part of the nursery, right? But Mister said we could use the cradle out in the living room, and I immediately felt better.

I've been googling jungle-themed nurseries, as I've always said I wanted to have a nursery that was mainly about big cats! Animals everywhere - none of that truck and princess theme stuff..ick. Limey can choose what he/she likes when she's older. I never chose pink - when I chose my room colours in grade 7, I chose turquoise walls with a really beautiful turquoise border, with yes, pink flowers..but it was *so* perfect. I really loved that room. Plus, I covered my closet in pics of boys and movie posters (Titanic!). I see how much little girls love disney princesses - do we really need these 'women' as role models to our girls? Thin, beautiful girls who sing and always get the guy? I just find the princess obsession so weird. But, I guess our girls grow out of that phase too. For me, it was all about My Little Pony, and characters that had horses. I *loved* She-Ra (which I think explains my love for Buffy!) Lady Lovelocks, rainbow bright, they all had such beautiful horses..and I still want one one day. I wonder if Limes will share my love of horses, whales and all fuzzy creatures? :)

Have to add that I just feel beautiful these days...I've never felt so comfortable and happy with my body! I just love my belly, and my boobs and my changing shape. I'm actually getting compliments all the time that I look really good..that pregnancy glow is real! :) It's all my happiness about our Limey shining through. I'm so proud of Limey already.

We talk to Limey every night before bed. Mister says 'we love you Limey. We want you to grow big and strong and healthy. We can't wait to meet you!' Mister even called Limey 'My Limey' the other nite..how sweet! We are both so so so excited about Limey getting here.

We get to hear Limey's heartbeat again this Thursday (yay!!!) and then in a few weeks, a long ultrasound that will hopefully let us know if we're having a son or a daughter. Wow.

16 Weeks
Watch what 16 Weeks Pregnantyou say... tiny bones forming in baby's ears mean the little one can now pick up your voice. Eyebrows, lashes and hair are starting to fill in, and taste buds are forming. And, if you're interested, an ultrasound might be able to determine gender.

Tuesday, October 5, 2010

Hoooray - 12 Weeks today!!!

Went for an ultrasound this morning at 11am at Mount Sinai with Mister (of course!)

Limey is...*Perfect*:

52mm (2.04 inches)
Crown to Rump length = 17mm
Heartbeat = 160

Me = 125.2 lbs
Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I took the photos below of the u/s screen with my camera after the tech had left ;)

Mister said he was amazed when he saw Limey for the first time. I just couldn't believe it...and Limey waved at us! Really! Put his/her hand up and the tech snapped a pic. Geez, Limey has a big head lol...Mister says that must mean she/he is really smart lol.

I wish we could have taken a video, just because it's just so overwhelming to see Limey, see Limey  move around, move arms and legs, it was fantastic. We are so blessed to have our Limey.

I showed our u/s pics to the nurse who did my bloodwork...her had a little girl 19 years ago on April 14. She made sure that I was eating properly and getting lots of rest. I told her that Mister's been taking really good care of me, and how much I love to sleep. :)

8 + 9 Week update!

I guess technically, when I have '9 weeks' as my title, I'm showing the pictures a baby at 9 weeks, but my questionnaire is actually for the previous week lol.

How far along: 8 weeks, then 9...missed a week in there!

Total weight gain/loss:

Maternity clothes: On Sept 14, I had to buy size 8 petite dress pants from Reitmans because my old pants needed a safety pin to button them up, and the hole on my hip was getting biggesr lol. Also got 2 cute button shirts, one blue one grey, that hide my belly well. And I look cute lol. I really loved wearing these new clothes to work today. :) Haven't bought new clothes in awhile!

Sleep: I'm less tired than I was in August, but still *love* to nap long and deep. And sleep in.

Best moment this week:  Telling Kat that she's going to be an Auntie, and talking preggo stuff with her!

Icky Stuff: Nauseous most of the time, but no puking yet. Getting close tho, thought I was going to puke on the guy sitting on the express bus beside me this morning. It was a mistake trying to read Seabiscuit on the bus!

Belly button in or out?: In. Belly pics being taken every week.

Craving: Grilled cheese sandwich, made my Mister. Yummmmmmmy and cheesy.

What I miss: Absolutely NOTHING. I'm the happiest I've been since our wedding/honeymoon in June '07.

What I am looking forward to:  Seeing how much baby grows...waiting for that next ultrasound!

Milestones: Finally telling Kat our wonderful news :) It's been hard to keep it from her!

9 Weeks

9th Week of Pregnancy: Get Ready for Those Hormones!9 Weeks Pregnant

Baby's now the size of a green olive!Your little embryo has now officially graduated to fetus-hood. Adding to the excitement, a Doppler ultrasound device might be able to pick up the beating heart. With basic physical structures in place and increasingly distinct facial features, baby is kind of starting to look like...well...a baby!

Your baby is busy growing. Her face looks more baby-like each day—her eyes are developed but concealed, and her nose, lips, and ears are becoming more defined. She's also starting to exercise her expanding muscles. Her fingers and toes are looking less like stubs. Although she's a wiggler—and you could see that on an ultrasound—she's still so small that you won't feel these movements. Her reproductive organs are developing, but even if you sneaked a peek you wouldn't be able to tell that she's a she (and neither could your doctor at this point).

8 Weeks

8th Week of Pregnancy: Common Symptoms9 Weeks Pregnant

Baby's now the size of a raspberry!
Baby is growing like mad, putting on about a millimeter every day and continuing to straighten out in the trunk. Though you can't feel it yet, baby is moving those little arms, legs, and (now only slightly) webbed fingers and toes like crazy.
No wonder you're excited to tell someone about your pregnancy. Your baby is no longer a mass of cells, but he's looking more and more like a miniature baby-to-be. Your baby's face is becoming more defined: eyelids have formed, his nose is beginning to protrude, and his upper lip is taking shape. Where there once were only stubs, fingers and toes are starting to develop from his arms and legs. His heart is beating quickly and strong inside his tiny body.

How Big Is Baby?

Your baby-to-be is now just over a 1/2 inch long. He's a little bigger than a dime.

Nina Moved Today

One of my closest friends in the whole world, Nina, moved away today. My heart feels super sad but I'm also so happy for her. This move brings her a house, cheaper rent, and a space for her studio. And a place to visit!

But, coming home on the streetcar today, all I wanted to do was go over to her house, have some tea and talk. I sad to think I can't just walk 3 mins and go over to her place. I can completely be myself there, no matter the mood. I can share my fears and talk thru my anxieties.

Nina is a hugs reason we are even pregnant now. It was with her that I went to yoga, talked about my fears aout going to work. Nina put together my resume, after I had put it off for so long cause I was scared. Nina's encouragement and support was what got me thru my first interview for a part time job at the bank, which led me to other interviews and to this position. And when Nina saw me working, it encouraged her to do a project she had been putting off for awhile. It was mutual growth for both of us.

It's awesome and powerful to think about where we both were in our lives in February, and just how far we've come *today*. I'm pregnant and so happy and she's onto a great new journey in her life...and we're only a few hours and a phone call away ;)

Told Kat!!

I finally got to tell Kat tonite!!

"so guess what?"
"...what....?"
"You're going to be an Auntie"
"no......no way.........really?? really??....alma...oh my God...how far along are you?"
"I know, can you believe it? 9 weeks!!"
"Oh my God, how long have you known??"

I wish I could have taped it lol! But neither skype nor messenger worked, and the volume on the speaker wasn't loud enough..but that's ok...I'm so *so* happy to have shared the news with her! You're going to be an auntie!

Feels really great to let her know...that we are both Mom's now :) Well, Mom's to baby's with no tails...we were already Mom's when we met back the beginning of April 07..Mom's to our boys, Boomer and Quixote.

Staring...

Saturday night, I dreamt we had a baby girl..I guess my subconscious keeps telling me we are having a little girl lol...Amanda said she knew from the beginning she was having a boy...but I don't know what to think - other than my dreams in the past had a knack of coming true lol. A little girl with black, soft curly hair. And in my dream, everytime i smiled at her, her face lit up and she smiled back at me...I think I've been reading too much Breaking Dawn lol.

Last nite, I just had to start at Cupcake's ultrasound...it was an overwhelming need to put the picture frame on my lap and just stare and touch cupcake's paper. Baby is real, really growing inside me, growing strong with a strong heart. I'm really pregnant and little cupcake is really growing inside, really with me. It's so beautiful and such a miracle. :)

Also, I have my 'Dearest Cupcake' letting in my wallet...it's just such a comfort. I hope Cupcake enjoyed the dancing on Saturday nite lol!

Please God, take care of our little one :)

First Ultrasound!!

Blueberry Cupcake measured at 7w3d (I'm 7w2d), is 1.1cm long (Saf was 1.1lbs when she was 5.5 weeks, and Baby K was 1 lbs!) and little ones heartbeat came in at 156 bpm. We got to listen to the heartbeat - twice!! It was amazing and so clear..like nothing I expected. We are just amazed...I don't know if it's sunk in yet that this is real - not just an hcg test, or a pee stick - we actually saw Cupcake and saw his or her little heart flicker. A miracle.

And another awesome thing? I video'ed the whole thing so we'll get to listen to Cupcake's heartbeat as much as we want! I am so thankful for technology, both big and small lol.

We also told Amanda, Alberto, Aunt Nella, Uncle Justo and Milly this evening...Amanda and Alberto kinda had a feeling, but Amanda was so sweet and cried after asking 'really??' a few times lol! I said 'we have some news to share with you guys....we're having a baby!' And then of course, hugs all around. When we told Aunt Nella, she started to cry..it was so sweet. Amanda took pictures too, which I'm really looking forward to seeing.

What a wonderful day :) One of the best days of our lives..to be remembered forever.

7 Weeks!

A few days late...but here'goes!

How far along: 7 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: Up to 123.7..gained 1.1 lbs from last week. Not what I was hoping for! Again, I started off about 7 lbs over what I would have wanted to start my pregnancy at, so I don't want to gain any extra too early. I was hoping I would lose a few pounds actually!

Maternity clothes: No, but my work pants are tighter than before, but I have gained 8.8 lbs since the end of Feb. They are definitely not loose lol!

Sleep: I love to nap. More than anything. From the moment I get up to the moment my head hits the pillow for my early evening nap, I fantasize about curling up and sleeping with Baby Kaos, Saf and Q.  Mornings are especially hard.

Best moment this week:  When Mister touches my belly, being at the City and Colour concert - sitting on the lawn,  listening to band that brought back vivid memories of Cape Breton, watching the TFC game, the Ex and the beams of lights, knowing our Cupcake is with us.

Icky Stuff: Some nausea, but very little. Mainly just exhausted in the morning.

Belly button in or out?: Innie.

Craving: None this week.

What I miss: Absolutely NOTHING. I'm the happiest I've been since our wedding/honeymoon in June '07.

What I am looking forward to:  Tomorrow's ultrasound..we pray that Cupcake is strong and healthy, and I hope we can see a heartbeat.

Milestones: Told Dani I'm pregnant last Thursday! Couldn't help it, my heart was pounding I was so excited to tell her! Felt pretty guilty afterwards, because Mister and I said we weren't going to say anything to close friends until after the ultrasound. I felt bad and apologized to Mister. This is his time to announce too..and we should always do it together!  I had a crappy day at work today, and I have someone there who really wants me gone. What I said to Lorna and Nina today was 'I've been thru worse. The most important thing is this little one, and I can survive anything else.' I have to have faith in the universe that we've been blessed to this point and we hope for guidance through the next while.

Please God help our little Cupcake to stay with us, be strong, be healthy. Please guide us.

Your Pregnancy: Week 7

Gotta pee...again? There's a triple whammy at work here. HCG (pregnancy hormone) increases blood (and urine) flow, your more-efficient kidneys rid waste quicker since you're now peeing for two, and that growing uterus is pressed right down on your bladder.

Baby's now the size of a blueberry!
Baby's brain -- both hemispheres! -- is growing fast, generating about one hundred new cells every minute. Arms and legs are emerging as joints start to form, and a permanent set of kidneys (baby's third!) is now in place.

Peed on a Stick lol!

I finally got to do tonite what I've been waiting 3 years to do - pee on a stick and see it turn positive.

I didn't even have to waitfor the 2 minutes...less than 7 seconds after I peed on in, a bright positive blue line appeared! I started yelling at Mister to come to the bathroom to see lol! So I took tons of pics of the pee stick to post laster. I actually just sat and stared at it in amazement...we are pregnant! :) :) Happy happy joy joy. And Mister kissed my belly today. Life is good. :)

6 Weeks!!

How far along: 6 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: 122.6 this morning. Am on a mission to walk more, use my exercise ball and start going to yoga!
Best moment this week:   On the bus on the way to work Monday morning, Mister said to me 'I love you both with all my heart." I've been waiting 11 years to hear him say that! At first I was a bit shocked, it was so unexpected to hear. At night, I told him how nice it was to hear what he said, and he said he always felt that feeling, but t=was showing it in a different way. How totally sweet, I thought about what he said all day yesterday, and I thanked God again for blessing us with this cupcake, who's allowed to experience these wonderful new feelings. I feel like a momma jungle cat already! I also loved all the naps me and Mister took this weekend at the cottage on the amazingly comfy bed.
Icky Stuff: Thankfully, none! No morning sickness yet. Just extremely tired. I asked Mister the other day why we never went out for walks in the evening, down to the beach, or just around the neighbourhood, and his answer was 'cause you've been sleeping!' I didn't realize until then how I've (*very happily*) slept away these weeks in August. Oh, and my boobs are sore lol. But not too bad.
Belly button in or out?: In. I wish I was starting out with a flatter stomach! But with everything that's happened, plus the hormones, there's was no chance of that. I wonder if my bump will show earlier or later then?
Craving: On Aug 13, I *craved* a mcd's smokehouse deluxe. I *inhaled* it. And *still* feel gross about it lol.
What I miss: Absolutely NOTHING. I'm the happiest I've been since our wedding/honeymoon in June '07.
What I am looking forward to:  Next  Thursday's appt to hear Cupcake's heartbeat, and being able to tell some close friends our great news.
Milestones: Telling both our parents on Friday nite! We were at the cottage and I had planned the idea to tell them together (my parents on the phone in Tx.) I had told them all that our appt to find out our results. So I had my mom on the phone and I said that 'Mister and I have a question for you, can Baba get on the phone too?' then I put the phone on speaker and Mister asked for the remote on the TV so he could put the volume down. I put the phone on the table and said (with the camera recording secretly) 'we have a serious question and we wanted to ask you all at the same time - we want to know - are you ready to be Grandparents...because we're *finally* pregnant!!!!!" there was a pause, then laughter - the kind of laugh of delight you only hear for very joyful things. My mom couldn't believe it! It was so good to finally share with them .My Baba said thank you for waiting to tell them at the same time as Mister's parents. My parents are coming for Thanksgiving and I'm praying that Cupcake stays strong, healthy and continues to get cozy..I can't wait to be with them during this time. It's going to be amazing. :)

Week 6: Sweet Pea

Growing like crazy, baby is starting to sprout eyes, ears, nose, cheeks and chin. Those little hands and feet- still webbed like paddles- might wiggle by week's end, the heart is beating (almost twice as fast as yours!), and blood is starting to circulate.

How your baby's growing:

This week's major developments: The nose, mouth, and ears that you'll spend so much time kissing in eight months are beginning to take shape. If you could see into your uterus, you'd find an oversize head and dark spots where your baby's eyes and nostrils are starting to form. His emerging ears are marked by small depressions on the sides of the head, and his arms and legs by protruding buds. His heart is beating about 100 to 160 times a minute — almost twice as fast as yours — and blood is beginning to course through his body. His intestines are developing, and the bud of tissue that will give rise to his lungs has appeared. His pituitary gland is forming, as are the rest of his brain, muscles, and bones. Right now, your baby is a quarter of an inch long, about the size of a lentil.
